This prescription has been compounded by Physicians Preference Pharmacy on physician’s orders.

DRUG:

Nystatin 500,000 units sugar-free, dye-free contains Nystatin compounded in oral capsules or oral suspension

USE:

Nystatin is an antifungal medication used to treat yeast infections.

DIRECTIONS:

Take with a full glass of water or as directed by your doctor.  Take all of the nystatin that has been prescribed for you even if you begin to feel better. Your symptoms may begin to improve before the infection is completely treated. If taking suspension, please make sure to rinse the oral syringe between doses.  Oral nystatin is in the FDA pregnancy category C. This means that it is not known whether nystatin will harm an unborn baby. Do not take this medication without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS:

Stop taking nystatin and seek emergency medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives).

Side effects are not likely to occur with nystatin. Continue to take nystatin and talk to your doctor if you  experience nausea or stomach upset, vomiting, or diarrhea.

Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.

It is not known whether nystatin will harm a nursing baby. Do not take this medication without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

MISSED DOSE:

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next regularly scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and take the next one as directed. Do not take a double dose of this medication unless otherwise directed by your doctor.

STORAGE:

Upon receipt, store capsules at controlled room temperature away from sunlight and moisture. Suspension should be stored in the refrigerator upon receipt. Suspension has a discard date of 30 days after compounding.

DISPOSAL OF UNUSED MEDICATION?

Contact the pharmacy for instructions on how to safely dispose of unused medication.  Do not flush unused medication or flush down sink or drain.
