DRUG:

This compound contains oxytocin

USE:

Oxytocin is a nonapeptide (nine amino acids) hormone secreted by the posterior pituitary. Oxytocin and its receptor (OXTR) play an important role in a variety of social, bonding, mood, and sexual responses. Oxytocin produces action both peripherally and in the brain. Oxytocin is released by males and females during orgasm. It may enhance the intimacy experience, social recognition and bonding.

Before using: INFORM YOUR DOCTOR OR PHARMACIST of all prescription and over-the-counter medicines that you are taking. Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.

DIRECTIONS:

For tablets, dissolve under the tongue as directed and allow a few minutes to dissolve. For nasal spray, place tip of nasal spray bottle in the nose and administer spray into the nasal passage while breathing in through your nose.

IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.

CAUTIONS:

Do not use oxytocin if you have a history of, or current hypertonic or hyperactive uterus, if you are pregnant, or if you have active uterine cancer. Do not stop using this medicine without first checking with your doctor. It is important that you keep all doctor and laboratory appointments while you are using this medicine. Before you begin taking any new medicine, either prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist. Talk to your doctor if you are on blood pressure medications.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS:

Common side effects are nausea, changes in blood pressure and uterine contractions. You may experience slight burning in the nose when using nasal spray – this is normal and should only last a few seconds.

DRUG INTERACTIONS:

Drug interactions can result in unwanted side effects or prevent a medicine from doing its job. Inform your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and over-the-counter medicines that you are taking.

STORAGE:

Upon receipt, store tablets at controlled room temperature away from sunlight and moisture. Store nasal spray in the refrigerator until expiration, then discard.

If you take too much: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
